Fleeing Boko Haram suspects nabbed in Biu

Military opera­tives in Biu lo­cal government area of Borno State have arrested 50 fleeing mem­bers of the Boko Haram insurgents who hid under a truck heading towards Gombe.
A security source who disclosed this to our cor­respondent said the sus­pected terrorists are cur­rently in their custody at the barracks in Biu.
He said some members of the youth vigilance group in Biu suspected the truck carrying sheep and goats at the top.

They stopped the truck for a routine check, only to discover 50 young men hiding underneath.
The suspects, accord­ing to the security source, confessed to being fight­ers of the Boko Haram sect who were on the run, following the killing of their leader in a battle at Konduga, Borno State, last week.
He said the suspects pleaded for mercy also promised to cooperate with security operatives by giving them useful in­formation on the where­abouts of other sect mem­bers on the run, as well as other groups holding the Chibok girls.
The source added that most of the suspects were between the ages of 18 and 25, and were speaking Kanuri and Hausa.
They were also said to have revealed places they had fought ‘jihad’, such as Bama and Konduga, where they were over­whelmed by the military and disbanded following the killing of their leader, Shekau.
